Museum of Science & Industry

In the summer of 2012, we went to my cousin's wedding in Wisconsin, which was really fun. After that, we drove down to Chicago, Illinois. My parents used to live there for 15 to 17 years during the 1970's and 80's and this was where they met each other before they got married. Prior to our visit, it had been 25 years since they last lived in Chicago. Among my favorites in the city is its tallest building, the Sears Tower (or Willis Tower), and one of the best if not the best museums I've ever visited: the Museum of Science & Industry! When we arrived in Chicago, we initially thought about going to that place. But when we got there, we had to pay for parking and for the admission tickets. Back then, people had free admission to go there but now it costs money to visit today. Another problem was that it closes at 5:30 PM, which was a bit too early and was pretty much of a bummer, in my opinion. Anyway, we spent a few minutes at the museum just before it closed. During this time, we bought a few souvenirs at a gift shop. However, we decided to come back there the next day. Later that evening, we had a little tour from our parents, who told us what they used to do back in Chicago. Overnight, we stayed at a hotel just in the downtown of this city.

Next morning, we returned to the museum as our second chance and it was a much more successful attempt. There are lots of exciting exhibits all over the place. My favorites are the Burlington Pioneer Zephyr, America's first diesel-powered streamliner, and the Great Train Story, a large HO scale layout featuring lots of trains, structures, scenery, vehicles, and so forth. The Museum of Science & Industry has almost everything: transportation, storms, chemistry, genetics, and lots of other science stuff you might have learned at school. We spent all day there seeing lots of exhibits and educational facts. Here are some photos I took in this museum.
