My Drawing of the Lionel Standard Gauge "Big Brute"


Here's another one of my tinplate train drawings. This is the Lionel "Big Brute" electric locomotive, originally designated as No. 381SS. It is a legendary engine that was basically a pre-production item to the 381E electric. But it's not identical to the production version because it looks larger. To my knowledge, this locomotive was built in Italy. That's one thing I like about Lionel because I believe Lionel had at least one Italian immigrant in the years before World War II. In fact, some of my ancestors, particularly on my father's side, came from Sicily and that's where my last name originated from. Stay tuned for my colored drawing of this enormous engine.
